The Environmental Review Process

In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), Caltrans and SBCTA are preparing an Environmental Impact Report (EIR) and Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the I-10 and I-15 Corridor Projects to evaluate and disclose the impacts they may have on the environment. A draft EIR/EIS for each project will be circulated to other agencies (Federal, State and local) and the public for review and comment before preparing the final EIR/EIS and approving the projects. In support of the EIR/EIS, the following technical studies will be conducted to analyze the potential environmental effects:

  • Air Quality/ Greenhouse Gas Emissions
  • Biological Studies
  • Community Impact Assessment
  • Cultural /Historical Studies
  • Cumulative Effects
  • Growth
  • Hazardous Waste and Materials
  • Hydrology
  • Noise
  • Parks/ Recreation
  • Traffic/Circulation
  • Water Quality
